SPUC in UK: Speaking Up against Embryo Experimentation

Since last year, I have been on the mailing list of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children in the UK.

I have even met the President of SPUC, John Smeaton, when I attended a pro-life conference here in the Philippines in January 2007. He was one of the speakers/reactors.

One of their great concerns at the present is the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill, which will let human embryos be used for experiments and research, and horrifyingly, even for producing interspecies hybrid embryos.

SPUC has produced a flier as part of their lobby against the bill. I am posting the flier here:

You may view or download this flyer as a PDF file at this link:

Babies are a Blessing

this pic is from

I disagree with people who say that there is a "teen pregnancy epidemic". Since when did having a baby become a disease? Teen immorality and promiscuity are the problems. Sexually transmitted diseases resulting from sexual promiscuity are epidemics. Pregnancy and children are a blessing.

I am convinced that the term "teen pregnancy epidemic" was coined by pro-abortion, pro-death advocates, in order to make abortion, which is the killing of an unborn baby, the "solution" to the so-called "epidemic".

We say NO to abortion and YES to life, YES to motherhood, YES to babies.this pic is also from

The Culture of Death

"How can infanticide be wrong and abortion be a basic right? Both mean the killing of a baby, and both represent the Culture of Death at its most deadly." -Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr., president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life

What is the culture of death?

The culture of death is when:
  • killing a baby is considered a "human right"
  • killing a baby is considered an "act of compassion", and having a baby is a curse and a burden
  • killing a baby is "modern", and abortion-restricting laws are "primitive"
  • killing a baby is "just a medical procedure", and having a baby is a "disease" (like calling teen pregnancies an "epidemic")
  • killing a baby who's still an embryo to harvest his or her stem cells is done for "science" and "health care"

Visit our "Asian Youth for Life" website

Visit our Asian Youth For Life website by clicking on the picture below:

God's heart is big enough for unborn babies in all nations. The Lord weeps for every aborted baby. The Lord weeps every time a mother decides to kill her baby. The Lord weeps when nations wipe out their citizens through abortion for the sake of population control.

Sadly, these things that the Lord weeps over are all happening in Asia. Asian Christians must stand up for LIFE. Asian Christians must speak out and pray against abortion because God is the Author of life and abortion kills that life that God created. Abortion sheds innocent blood. Blood that cries out to the Lord for justice.

Bella: a pro-life movie from Hollywood

Bella is a life-affiriming movie that was shown in North America in 2007. It's about a friendship between a chef and a waitress at a Mexican restaurant in New York City. The waitress is pregnant (NOT by the chef) and is fired by the restaurant owner, the chef's brother, for always being late. The chef follows the waitress and they talk and they meet the chef's family. The waitress keeps her baby in the end. It is a clean movie because no sex is ever seen or depicted or implied. It is hailed by pro-life organizations because it upholds life. View the movie review of Christian on Bella.

The picture above is from Jaeson Ma's blog, it is from the "Bella 10 movement". According to Jaeson Ma, who sang "Justice from Heaven", Bella has saved 13 babies already from abortion. 13 women have decided to keep their babies after watching Bella. Bella will be avaible in DVD in the U.S. soon, and the Bella 10 movement aims to mobilize people to buy and watch and give away the DVD to encourage people with its pro-life message.

We are for life because God is!-Rev. Jim Lamb, Lutherans for Life

"We are not ‘For Life’ because it is the politically advantageous thing to do or the economically and socially smart thing to do. We are not ‘For Life’ because it is the right thing to do or the ethical thing to do or the moral thing to do. We are ‘For Life’ because it is the ‘God thing’ to do! We are ‘For Life’ because God is. We are ‘For Life’ because the children are precious to Him. We are ‘For Life’ because we are precious to Him."

Rev. Dr. James I. Lamb, executive director of Lutherans For Life.

Why is Abortion Wrong? From the Biblical, Legal, Ethical and Medical Viewpoint

Why is abortion wrong?

1.Abortion is wrong because it is a sin against God- because it is murder in God’s eyes
  • Killing another human life shows contempt for God, who created that life
  • The 6th Commandment: “You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13)
  • Abortion takes away another human life that is made in the image of God
  • Abortion is the ultimate power grab from God- to choose between life and death.

2. Abortion is wrong because it is the shedding of innocent blood and God hates the shedding of innocent blood
Prov 6:16-19 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood

3. Abortion is wrong because it is ethically wrong
  • Ethics- a set of moral principles adopted by a profession or a society; defines right or wrong
  • It is immoral to kill, that’s why it’s a crime to murder or kill another human being after he is born, from birth to natural death.
  • In the same way, it is immoral to kill another human being before he or she is born, when he or she is still in the womb.
  • It is immoral to choose who may live and who may not.
  • Ex. Holocaust- Nazis chose death for the Jews
  • Abortion- people choose death for babies; people decide whether a baby lives or dies
  • If the fetus is a human being, then the killing of the fetus (abortion) is homicide.-Dr. D. Brady-West, DM, Medical Practitioner, Jamaica

4. Abortion is wrong because our Constitution upholds life
In the Philippines, the State protects the life of its citizens from conception
The State shall equally protect the life of the mother and the life of the unborn from conception. (Article II, Sec. 12 of the 1987 Constitution)

5. Abortion is wrong because in the Philippines, abortion is a crime
The Revised Penal Code punishes abortion as a crime with fines and imprisonment both for the woman and the health professional who committed the crime of abortion
Revised Penal Code, Book Two,Title Eight-CRIMES AGAINST PERSONS, Chapter One-DESTRUCTION OF LIFE, Section Two- Infanticide and abortion. Article 255-259

6. Abortion is wrong because abortion kills babies and hurts women
  • Post-abortion syndrome= post-traumatic stress disorder: guilt, major depression, anger, nightmares, hallucinations
  • Because abortion kills an innocent living person, another human life! No one suffers guilt or depression when a tooth or appendix is removed.
  • Chemical and surgical abortion cause many complications in women: uterine perforation, bleeding, infertility, susceptibility to breast cancer.
  • There is no such thing as a “safe abortion” because abortion is 100% fatal to babies.
  • Abortion tears apart bodies of children

Abortion promises power … brings powerlessness.
Abortion promises freedom … brings lifelong bondage.
Abortion promises a better role for women … brings destruction.
Abortion promises to save relationships … destroys them instead.
Abortion promises "reproductive health" … brings infertility and death.
